
A Mexican writer and director, he holds an MFA from Columbia University, and is a member of Mexico’s National System of Art Creators and of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Hollywood. His debut feature, “The Life After” (2013), premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and was awarded at the Morelia International Film Festival. After that, he made “The Chosen Ones” (2015), which competed at the Cannes, San Sebastián, Zurich, and Stockholm film festivals, and it was nominated for the Goya Award for Best Ibero- American Film. He also directed “Dance of the 41” (2021) and the first four episodes of the series “The Head of Joaquín Murrieta” (2023).
