Born in Michigan, USA, in 1959. A filmmaker, non-fiction author, and investigative journalist, he made his directing debut with “How to Survive a Plague” (2012). This film, alongside numerous other awards, was nominated for an Oscar for Best Documentary. He also directed “The Death and Life of Marsha P.” (2017), screened at the Sheffield Doc/Fest and at the Tribeca Film Festival, “Welcome to Chechnya” (2020), presented at the 44th Mostra, and “How to Survive a Pandemic” (2022).
