A Lebanese director and screenwriter, Cyril is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He holds a Master of Fine Arts from Columbia University. He directed short films such as “The President’s Visit” (2017), before premiering his first documentary feature film, “The Swing” (2018), at the Karlovy Vary Festival. His feature documentary “Dancing on the Edge of a Volcano” (2023), also premiered in the main competition at Karlovy Vary, where it received a Special Jury Mention. The film went on to screen at over 80 international festivals, including BFI London, CPH:DOX, and DOC NYC. “A Sad and Beautiful World” is his first fictional feature film.
