
Born in Kaili City, China, in 1989. Bi Gan is a filmmaker who blends documentary, fiction, experimental cinema, in non-linear storytelling, and contemplations on loss, memory, and the human condition. He made, among others, the short “Diamond Sutra” (2012) and the feature films “Kaili Blues” (2015), screened at the Locarno Film Festival, winning the Best Emerging Director Award and a Special Mention for First Feature, and “Long Day’s Journey into Night” (2018), which premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival.
