Documentary filmmaker born in Los Angeles, USA, in 1968,. Her film debut, “Deliver Us From Evil” (2006), was nominated for an Academy Award and a DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentary. She also directed “West Of Memphis” (2012), in collaboration with producers Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, was nominated for a BAFTA, and won the WGA Documentary Screenplay Award. Her subsequent works include the feature “Every Secret Thing” (2014) and the documentary “Prophet’s Prey” (2015), also presented at the Sundance Film Festival. Her project about music legend Janis Joplin, “Janis: Little Girl Blue” (2015), was premiered at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals. Most recently, her docuseries, “Phoenix Rising” (2022), was presented at the Sundance Film Festival.
