Paula, 40, is expecting her third child, while spending her time between an ugly beach and a newly acquired and modest summer house on the coast of São Paulo, where she plans to build a swimming pool for her children. When her plans fall apart because of financial problems, she becomes increasingly suffocated by the weight of her responsibilities. Left alone by her husband and dealing with the constant demands of her teenage son, who is discovering a new world, Paula needs to confront her own expectations and frustrations, which reveal to us a deep association between love and loss.
