Born in Hemer in 1954. Director and script
writer, graduated in History and American Studies
by the Freie University in Berlin. He studied in
the German Academy of Film and Television in
Berlin and, since 1983, has worked as camera
assistant in several films. Schmetterlinge,
his first work, is from 1987, and he won the Gold
Leopard at the Locarno Festival.
Other films from the
director: the child drama Kinderspiele and
the documentary Celinadache. Life
is All You Get gained Special Mention at
the Berlin Festival and the German Critics Prize.
