Born in Mexico in 1943 and having grown up
in the world of cinema owing to the activity of
the father as producer. He was assistant director
for the master Luis Buñuel in his Mexican phase
in O Anjo Exterminador and Simão do Deserto. He
first started directing at the age of 22 years
with Tiempo de Morir (64), with a script by
Gabriel Garcia Márquez. His most recent films
were La Mujer del Puerto (91), Principio y Fin
(93) and La Rena de la Noche (94).
