Graduated by the Dutch Academy for Cinema
and Television, Paula van der Oest directed two
medium-length films (Coma and Achilles Zebra
Crossing) before starting to direct features such
as Another Mother.

A
ten-year-old boy is in trauma having witnessed the death
of his mother, and has lost his speech. The father is
desperate to help him and decides to take him out of
hospital and goes off with him on a journey in search of
a new mother for the boy.In face of the social and
economic problems of the country where they live - Latvia
- the father sees as only way out to meet, once more, a
friend from infancy who lives in Holland with whom he has
corresponded by letter. And it is there that he makes his
way with his son in the hope that he will speak once more
and lead a normal life.
