When Cristina, a woman aged thirty-five comes to the conclusion that love is nothing but a permanent source of pain, tears, and obssessions, and she decides to close herself up in her own world. She devotes herself only to work, building up in her personal life a barrier that will keep her far from the temptations of love. She is happy thus. She knows what she wants, has a job she likes, a beautiful apartment where she is the absolute owner, and professionally, success and luck have always been by her side. She has light amorous adventures, but at the first sign of commitment, she will change her partner. All is perfect. However, one day she again falls in love, bringing down the foundations of a life so well constructed and organized.

Manane Rodriguez was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1955. He has lived in Spain since 1977. He first started in cinema with a short film Coffee Set, of 1990. Two years later, he made another short film From One Stroke to Another, and made his first documentary in 1994, Rara Avis. This Retrato de Mulher com Homem ao Fundo is his first feature.
