ISLE OF LESBOS

USA

Isle of LesbosA musical comedy that may be regarded as an amusing blend of Rocky Horror Picture and The Wizard of Oz. With color reminiscent of the classic musicals, in distinct worlds: the small and conservative city of Bumfunk and the exotic Island of Lesbos, a different dimension in time and space where the lesbians command the Universe. These two realities collide on the wedding day of April, a young country girl who decides to flee the altar and blow her brains out. When she pulls the trigger, it will be sucked up by the mirror. She wakes up in the midst of a pagan ceremony on the Island of Lesbos and discovers a new and colorful world, where the only representative of the male sex is responsible for the housework at the site. Meanwhile, Bumfuck, April's parents, seek assistance from Dr Sigmoid Colon, a specialist in a cure for homossexualism.

Humor and music (15 sounds were composed especially for the film) are the elements utilized to accentuate the satyrical and unpretentious mood of this comedy, first conceived as a theater play, but that eventually resulted in a hilarious film production.

Jeff B. Harmon

Born in 1944, Jeff B. Harmon worked for twenty years as war correspondent. During this time, he produced programs on the El Salvador guerrilla, the Afghanistan invasion, and the Iran-Iraq conflict. Weary of the hard reality of war zones, he decided to write a theater play to be staged in London. Later he saw the possibility of transforming the play into a film as a starting point to being a film director. In TV, he worked for the BBC, Channel Four, and National Geographic.
