Film
by a disciple of Kieslowski, consisting of four episodes
that are interconnected by the same theme: love. A man
aged 45 years is the protagonist of the stories and lives
different relationships with women of several age
brackets. In one of them, he is a professor that arouses
the passion of one of his students. She declares her love
and offers herself to him, which makes him very
embarrassed. Without meaning to, he eventually causes her
to be expelled from the school. In another episode, a priest discovers he is father to a teenager and that she needs him a great deal. So much so that he abandons the Church for love of his daughter. In the third story, a colonel lives peacefully with his wife until Tamara, a Russian whom he was madly in love with in the past, arrives on the scene. In spite of his professional and personal obligations, he is tempted to relive the great love of his life. In the last episode, a man and his companion pass through a judicial dispute in which they mutually accuse each other. Between betrayal, fights, and reconciliation they perceive that they are, in fact, in love with each other. Another character runs through all of the stories: an unknown researcher who records all of the answers of the characters to his diverse questions. |
