A portrait
of Bangkok of today. A modern city, westernized but where the residents continue true to
ancient beliefs such as attentively listening to what futurologists have to say about the
paths their lives might take. Such is Pu, a young girl who works in a publicity agency.She
has been dreaming that her mother, who had died some time befors, is building a house.
Impressed, she goes in search of a fortune teller who advises her that, should she
continue to have this dream, her father will die when the house is ready. The girl's
father is of the playboy type and is a regular customer at a karaokę. He eventually
becomes involved with a woman who has connections with the Chinese Mafia.
Another important character in Pu's path is Noi, son of an American soldier who
dreams of saving money, learning English and leaving for America. He is in love with Pu,
but too shy to reveal his love for her.
