PARADISE ROAD

Australia

Paradise RoadBased on real events, this drama describes friendship, courage and feminine strength. Centered on a brief episode in World War II when a group of women are captured by the Japanese. They are in a ship escaping from Singapore after bombing when they are arrested and taken to prison camp. Although they are of different social levels and speak different languages, they find something that is able to keep them alive. Disobeying official orders, they form a choir, not to sing popular music, but complex arrangements and sophisticated classical pieces. In spite of the difficulties, including violent interruption of the first rehearsal, the group performance is received with rapture in the camp. This is how these women prove that a song of hope may become a symphony of glory.
