Inspired
by the process of artificial insemination in cows, director Olga Malea has built up this
amusing comedy that deals with refined and deliberately kitsch humor, with the sexual
discoveries of two teenagers. Cristina and Athanasia are students aged 17, finishing high
school and living in a cattle-raising region.Brought
up under severe family standards and sexual taboos, they dream of perfect love and
marriage. Christna's father wishes her to marry Vangelis, the most sought-after bachelor
in the area. With Athanasia's family, the situation is no different: her father wishes
only to make sure she is happy, but her mother feels she should also invest in Vangelis.
The girl, however, would rather spend her time with Murphy, who aspires to become a
professional pianist.
Things change when the girls witness artificial insemination
in a cow. Impressed by the animal's orgasm, they decide it is now time to discover
pleasure and put an end to virginity. Athanasia seduces Murphy, but falls into panic when
the act is about to be consumed. Christina goes to bed with Vangelis, but is disappointed
in the results. On the next day, they have to face up to the family and face themselves.
Bonds are broken and romantic myths destroyed. The two then decide to seek each their own
way. |
