| BETWEEN MARX AND A NAKED WOMAN | Ecuador |
Fantastic realism and an innovating narrative are the main elements of
this film. At the center of the story is the figure of an author endeavoring to commit to
a book his own trajectory and that of his intellectual friends in Ecuador in the sixties. These are extremely unusual types. So much so that, at times, even the very creator himself doubts whether they in fact existed or whether they are only products of the imagination. In one sequence, the author in crisis talks to Karl Marx and confesses he is confused between what reality is and what fiction is in the world of his characters. In this gallery of great characters, there are incredible figures such as Galo Gálvez, political activist in love with Margaramaria, a woman confined to a wheel chair. This is the second part of a trilogy of the director on his country begun with La Tigra that shows Ecuador in the thirties. |
