ANAHY DE LAS MISIONES

Brazil

Anahy de Las Misiones The saga of a woman struggling for survival during the most disturbed of periods in the history of Rio Grande do Sul, the Farroupilha Revolution that lasted for ten years (1835-1845). Dragging an old cart with no oxen, Anhy and her children face war, death, and fear. Her only objective is to keep the family together. They wander over Rio Grande do Sul among farroupilha revolutionaries and caramuru loyalists, defenders of the Empire. To survive, they collect refuse from battles and negotiate these in the soldiers camps from both factions. In her historical exodus, Anahy witnesses historical, legendary episodes of the revolution. Inevitably, however, conflict infiltrates in her life, and Anahy watches helplessly as her family breaks up.
